So, Selumetinib is this special inhibitor that zeroes in on these MEK enzymes. And guess what? Those enzymes are like key players in this important signaling pathway that gets all screwy in a lot of cancers. Oh, and this pathway gets all out of whack in loads of tumors, like the ones tied to something called neurofibromatosis type 1 (NF1).
Selumetinib is mainly used to help with plexiform neurofibromas that are giving patients a tough time, especially those dealing with NF1. There are two forms to choose from – you’ve got 10 mg and 25 mg capsules. Now, the usual advice is to take the 25 mg tablets twice a day on an empty stomach.
Just like, make sure your belly is empty before you take them. These capsules come in bottles with 60 of them in each, so you’re all set.
