Binimetinib is a MEK inhibitor that’s usually used for treating melanoma, especially if you have a BRAF V600E/K mutation. It’s often taken with encorafenib. It’s made to stop a process in the body called MEK signaling, which is important in making melanoma grow.
The tablets are in 15 mg doses, and you’re usually supposed to take them twice a day for a total of 45 mg. One bottle has 84 tablets and that’s all you need for the treatment. It works by trying to shut down a protein called MEK, which helps melanoma cells grow and survive.
Binimetinib is for folks who haven’t fully gotten better after using a BRAF inhibitor, or if the melanoma got worse after taking one. You should be watched closely for any bad stuff it might do, and make sure to chat with your doc if you have any worries.
