Pemigatinib’s job is to target a specific kind of cholangiocarcinoma, which has something called FGFR2 fusions, by blocking a protein called FGFR. It stops the FGFR signaling, which is a bit like putting on the brakes. You’re supposed to take 13.5 mg every day for 14 days, then take a break for 7 days.
You can get these tablets in 4.5 mg, 9 mg, or 13.5 mg doses, and they come in a pack of 14 pills. It’s designed to keep the cancer from getting worse and help lower the chances of it coming back. Make sure you follow the treatment plan that your doctor tells you about.
You might have side effects like diarrhea, your skin might react, and you could feel tired or have belly pain, among other things.
