Gilteritinib’s job is to target a protein called FLT3, which is linked to a type of leukemia called AML. It’s used when the leukemia doesn’t get better or when it comes back after treatment. Gilteritinib is all about stopping something called FLT3 kinase, which plays a big role in cancer cell growth.
The pills are covered with a special coating and each one has 40 milligrams of the stuff, gilteritinib. They usually tell you to take 120 milligrams of it every day. Just one pill, swallowed whole.
You get your gilteritinib in a bottle with 90 pills, which is pretty handy if you’re on it for the long haul.
