Asciminib is a medication used to treat chronic myeloid leukemia. It’s mainly used for people who have tried other treatments and they didn’t work. It zeroes in on something called the ABL myristoyl pocket.
You can get it in 20 mg or 40 mg doses, and they’re these film-coated tablets. The usual dose is 80 mg a day. You can take one 40 mg tablet, or two 40 mg tablets, one in the morning and one at night.
The medication comes in bottles with 60 tablets each. It works by hitting a spot on the ABL protein. This messes with the BCR-ABL tyrosine kinase, which is like a key to cancer cell growth, so it helps stop the leukemia cells from multiplying.
