Elacestrant is a selective estrogen receptor degrader (SERD) designed for ER /HER2breast cancer. So how it works? It breaks down the ER signaling, which is like a message system in cancer cells that tells them to grow. There are two sizes you can get this in—86 mg and 345 mg, and they’re in these tablets with a special coating.
You’re supposed to take the big one, 345 mg, once a day and make sure to eat something while you do it. They come in bottles with 30 tablets in each. The main job of this drug is to go after those estrogen receptors in cancer cells, mess up the whole estrogen signal system that cancer cells use to grow.
Elacestrant is different from other types of estrogen receptor drugs because it actually gets rid of those receptors instead of just blocking them, which can help slow down cell growth and maybe shrink tumors. It’s super important that you listen to your doctor when they tell you how much to take and how to use it.
