Ponatinib is a kind of targeted therapy that helps with CML and a type of ALL, known as Ph ALL, especially for folks who can’t handle or don’t tolerate other treatments called tyrosine kinase inhibitors. It blocks something called the BCR-ABL fusion protein and also hits a few other kinase targets. Ponatinib comes in tablets in two sizes: 15 mg and 45 mg.
The usual dose is 45 mg, and you can take it with or without food every day. You’ll find Ponatinib in bottles with 30 pills each. The 45 mg tablet is what you want to go for, and just a heads-up, you’ve gotta follow the directions given by your doctor or nurse. Before you start, talk to your doc about what kinds of side effects you might expect.。
