Ponatinib is used for Chronic Myeloid Leukemia and a type of leukemia known as Ph ALL, which happens to be resistant to those other TKIs. It works on several kinase targets. You take it once a day, 45 mg, and you can take it with or without food.
They have tablets that come in 15 and 45 mg. The 45 mg is what most doctors recommend. Each bottle has 30 pills in it.
The main thing in Ponatinib, it’s good against something called BCR-ABL, a type of kinase tied to cancer. Ponatinib is meant for people who’ve become resistant to other drugs like Imatinib, Nilotinib, Dasatinib, and Bosutinib. Clinical trials have shown that it’s pretty good at improving how people do with their disease and cutting down the chances of the disease getting worse for folks who’ve already tried other treatments.
