Selpercatinib is a targeted drug that’s used for certain types of lung cancer, thyroid cancer, and other tumors with RET mutations. It works by shutting down the RET kinase, a key enzyme in these cancer cell pathways. You’ve got two pill strengths: 40 mg and 80 mg.
The usual amount to take is 160 mg, and you should take it twice a day. You can eat with it or not—it doesn’t matter. It comes in bottles with 60 capsules, so that’s 120 doses all in one go.
Keep taking it until the cancer gets worse or the side effects are just too much to handle.
