Ponatinib is a type of TKI. It’s for people with CML or ALL who have tried and failed on other treatments like imatinib, nilotinib, dasatinib, or bosututinib. It’s part of a group called BCR-ABL inhibitors.
It blocks signals in cancer cells that cause them to grow and spread. You can get Ponatinib in two strengths, 15 mg and 45 mg. Adults usually take 45 mg once a day.
It doesn’t matter if you have it with or without food. The tablets come in bottles with 30 pills, so that’s one month’s worth at the 45 mg a day dose.
