Capivasertib is a strong, super-specific oral medicine that stops AKT kinases. These kinases are super important in how cells communicate and divide, especially in breast cancer where certain genes are messed up. You’ve got two choices for the tablets: 200 mg or 400 mg.
The plan is to take 400 mg twice a day for four days in a row, then take a break for three days before starting the cycle again. Each cycle lasts four days, and each bottle has enough tablets for one whole cycle, that’s 64 tablets. If you’re taking oral therapy, you can go with the 200 mg tablet to cut down on the number of pills you have to take.
You can take the tablet once a day, in the morning or at night, depending on what fits your body’s clock best. The 400 mg tablet should be with food, but the 200 mg one is fine on an empty stomach. Be careful with folks who’ve had bad reactions to amlodipine and dipyridamole or have a family history of a heart rhythm thing called long QT syndrome.
