Aprocitentan is a type of medicine that blocks endothelin receptors. It’s used to treat high blood pressure that doesn’t respond to other treatments. It works by helping to relax blood vessels.
You can get it in 12.5 mg tablets. The usual dose is one tablet a day. Each bottle holds 30 of these tablets.
The main stuff in it, aprotinin, stops something called bradykinin from breaking down. This is what makes it good at preventing blood clots. It works by stopping endothelin from sticking to its receptors.
This lessens the narrowing of blood vessels that endothelin usually causes. As a result, your blood pressure might go down, which is great for people with really tough high blood pressure. But it’s not for all kinds of high blood pressure, just the hard-to-treat kind, and not for sudden emergencies.
