Fidaxomicin is a special antibiotic. It’s made just for dealing with a type of infection called Clostridioides difficile. This infection often happens after people take other antibiotics.
Fidaxomicin stops bacteria from making RNA, which is like the language they use to grow and survive. It comes as 200 mg tablets. You’re supposed to take one pill in the morning and another at night for 10 days.
Each bottle has 20 tablets, so it’s just right for the 10 days you need to take it. Fidaxomicin fights the infection well, and it’s better at not causing resistance than some other treatments for Clostridioides difficile.
