Mavacamten is a med used for a condition called obstructive hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, or HCM for short. It’s part of a group of drugs called cardiac myosin inhibitors. These work by cutting down on how strong your heart beats, which in turn helps to ease the symptoms of HCM.
You can get Mavacamten in different strengths—2.5 mg, 5 mg, 10 mg, and 15 mg—all in capsule form. The doc usually starts you off with 5 mg a day, but you might need to change it up as needed. The capsules come in bottles with 30 of them in each.
