It’s a selective inhibitor that focuses on something called RET tyrosine kinase. It treats certain kinds of lung cancer, thyroid cancer, and other types of tumors where RET is affected. The drug can block these kinase activities.
You can get it in two doses: 40 mg and 80 mg in pill form. Doctors usually suggest people take 160 mg of the stuff, twice a day, whether with food or not. These pills come in bottles with 60 of them.
The mechanism of action involves inhibiting the RET signaling pathway, which is overactive in certain cancers due to chromosomal translocations or gene fusions.
