Sotripentol is an anticonvulsant. It’s used to treat Dravet syndrome, a rare and really bad type of epilepsy. It’s mostly used with other drugs.
The drug boosts GABAergic transmission. That’s a process involving GABA, a neurotransmitter. Sotripentol comes in two doses: 250 mg and 500 mg capsules.
The usual dose is 50 mg per kilogram of body weight a day, and it’s usually split up into smaller doses. You’ll find this stuff in bottles with 60 capsules. Patients need to listen to their doc about the right dose and stick to the plan to keep their symptoms under control.
