This antiviral medication, Valganciclovir, is used to treat CMV retinitis and also to prevent it in transplant recipients. How it works is by stopping the virus’s DNA from copying itself. You can get Valganciclovir as 450 mg pills.
The usual amount is 900 mg, and it’s often taken once or twice a day, especially when you eat something. There are 60 of these tablets in each bottle.
