Anagrelide is used to help lower platelet levels in people with a condition called essential thrombocythemia. You can get it in 0.5 mg capsules. The doc usually tells you to take 0.5 mg four times a day, and you might need to tweak it a bit.
The pills come in bottles, each with 100 capsules. It works by stopping these big cells, called megakaryocytes, from growing and making extra platelets. You’ve got to stick with the dose your doc gives you and keep an eye on those platelet numbers to see how well it’s working.
