Ivosidenib is an oral med. It’s used to treat relapsed or hard-to-treat acute myeloid leukemia (AML) in people who have these IDH1 mutations. The drug works by keeping that IDH1 enzyme from doing its usual thing, which helps slow down the cancer cells’ growth.
You get Ivosidenib as 250 mg pills. The usual dose is 500 mg, taken every day with food. It comes in bottles with 60 pills each.
It’s designed to zero in on and shut down that bad IDH1 enzyme to stop the cancer cells from growing. But it only works if there’s that specific IDH1 mutation. You’ll need close monitoring while on this med, just in case there are side effects or if the treatment needs to be adjusted.
