Dabrafenib is an oral BRAF inhibitor. It specifically goes after the BRAF V600E/K-mutated cells in melanoma and non-small cell lung cancer. It works by stopping the kinase activity of the BRAF protein, which is a big deal for cell growth regulation.
You get it in capsule form, either 50 or 75 mg. But for treatment, the go-to dose is 150 mg taken twice a day. Take it on an empty stomach, and try to do it at least 30 minutes after you’ve eaten.
Pop the whole capsule. You can use a glass of water if you need to swallow it. The medicine comes in bottles with 120 capsules each.
Dabrafenib can cause some side effects, like dermatitis, fever, diarrhea, throwing up, and hair loss. You really need to talk to a healthcare pro about this stuff to see if it’s good for you and what the risks are.
