Dacomitinib is a special kind of cancer treatment that inhibits the Epidermal Growth Factor Receptor (EGFR) thingy. It’s mostly used for treating non-small cell lung cancer in folks with certain mutations in the EGFR, like the ones called exon 19 deletions or the L858R thingies. These mutations are kind of like the turbochargers for cancer cell growth in patients with EGFR-positive NSCLC.
Dacomitinib comes in three different dose sizes: there’s the 15 mg pill, the 30 mg one, and the big guy at 45 mg. The go-to dose is 45 mg per day for folks with NSCLC and those EGFR mutations. Each bottle holds 30 tablets.
It blocks the EGFR signal, sort of like a roadblock for cancer cells, stopping them from growing out of control.
