Fidaxomicin is an antibiotic used to treat a type of infection that often happens after someone’s taken antibiotics. It’s usually used for a condition where you have diarrhea. The way fidaxomicin works is by stopping the bacteria from making their RNA, which means they can’t grow by making new proteins.
You’ll get fidaxomicin as film-coated tablets with 200 mg in each one. The usual dose is to take two of these 200 mg tablets each day with some food, for 10 days in a row. Each bottle has 20 of these tablets, so it’s easy to take the right amount every day.
It’s really important to finish all the pills even if you feel better, so that the infection goes away completely.
