Gilteritinib is an FLT3 inhibitor. It’s used for treating AML that comes back or doesn’t respond to treatment, especially in cases where FLT3 mutations are present. It works by stopping FLT3 kinase, which is key in slowing down the growth of cancer cells.
The drug is in the form of 40 mg tablets, and they’re coated. The usual dose for adults is 120 mg taken by mouth every day. You’ll get Gilteritinib in bottles with 90 tablets in each.
You can take it with or without eating, but just make sure to swallow it whole. Make sure you finish the whole treatment, even if you start feeling better. There might be some side effects like nausea, throwing up, diarrhea, feeling tired, and not wanting to eat.
