Ceritinib is a type of ALK inhibitor that’s used to treat a specific kind of lung cancer where the cancer has spread and there’s an ALK mutation. The drug goes after the ALK signaling pathway. This is a key genetic change that shows up in certain lung cancers.
Ceritinib comes in 150 mg capsule form. You’re supposed to take 450 mg of the drug once a day with food, and that’s three capsules. You need to swallow the capsules whole.
No crushing or chewing them. The medication comes in bottles with 70 capsules each, so it’ll last you about 70 days if you take 210 mg a day. Also, ceritinib needs to be kept in a safe place at room temperature.
And remember, you’ll need a prescription to get it.
