Gilteritinib is an FLT3 inhibitor, used to treat relapsed or hard-to-treat acute myeloid leukemia (AML) that has FLT3 mutations. It works by blocking the FLT3 kinase, which helps slow down the growth of leukemia cells. You can get this med in 40 mg film-coated tablet form.
The dose they usually recommend is 120 mg, and you take it once a day by mouth. You’ll find it in bottles with 90 tabs. Gilteritinib targets the FLT3 receptor, which is either way too much or has changed in a lot of AML cases.
FLT3 mutations make AML come back and make the treatment not work so good. Its job is to keep FLT3 from being phosphorylated, and that stops those AML cells with the mutation from multiplying.
