Ivosidenib is a treatment specifically for a type of leukemia called AML that comes back or doesn’t respond to standard treatment, and it works by targeting a mutated IDH1 gene. It does this by stopping an enzyme called IDH1, which helps slow down the growth of cancer cells with a mutated IDH1. The ivosidenib tablets come in a 250 mg dose and have a coating on them.
The usual dose is 500 mg a day, and that means taking two of the 250 mg tablets at once. They tell you to take the pill by mouth. Each bottle has 60 tablets of ivosidenib in it.
Just remember, ivosidenib is for AML patients who haven’t gotten better or whose cancer has come back after trying usual treatments.
