This medicine, called Selpercatinib, is specifically for fighting certain types of cancer. It targets a protein called RET in cancer cells that have certain mutations, like those found in lung cancer and thyroid cancer. It works by blocking the RET kinase from doing its thing.
There are two strengths of it – 40 mg and 80 mg in capsule form. The usual dose is 160 mg, taken two times a day. You can take it with or without food.
The capsules come in bottles that hold 60 pills each. It’s a pill you take by mouth that helps deal with those cancers by going after the RET mutation in cancer cells.
