Mitotane is a drug that targets the adrenal glands for treating adrenocortical carcinoma. It’s really good at keeping the adrenal glands from overproducing hormones. The pills are 500 mg each.
You usually start with 2 to 6 grams a day, split up, and they’ll tweak the dose for you based on how well you handle it. Each bottle has 100 of these 500 mg pills. You really need to keep an eye on any side effects because it can be pretty strong.
This stuff is used when you can’t have surgery or radiation. Just be careful driving or using heavy machinery; it can make you feel dizzy. You might notice some stomach problems, feel really tired, or your mood could change a bit.
