Ivosidenib is a treatment aimed at a type of leukemia called AML that’s caused by IDH1 mutations. It works by stopping an enzyme called IDH1 that’s acting up in cancer cells, which helps to slow down their growth. The drug comes in 250 mg tablets that have a special coating.
You’re supposed to take 500 mg a day, which is two tablets. You’ll find Ivosidenib in bottles with 60 of these tablets. This treatment’s for people who’ve had their leukemia come back or doesn’t respond to other treatments, meaning it’s used after the first ones haven’t worked.
You can take this oral med with or without food—it doesn’t matter. Just don’t chew it, crush it, or break it apart.
