Ponatinib is a kinase inhibitor. It’s used to treat CML and Ph ALL when other tyrosine kinase inhibitors have stopped working. It attacks a bunch of kinases that help cancer cells grow and stick around.
There are two strengths of this drug: 15 mg and 45 mg, both in the form of coated pills. You usually take 45 mg of the stuff once a day. You can take it with or without eating.
The drug comes in bottles with 30 tablets in each one. You might need a lower dose if you’ve got really bad kidney or liver issues. Some usual side effects are changes in your vision, trouble pooping, feeling sick, and not wanting to eat.
It’s a big no-no for pregnant ladies. You gotta stick to the doctor’s orders to keep cancer from coming back or the drug getting less effective.
