This medication, called upadacitinib, is used for treating conditions like rheumatoid arthritis, psoriatic arthritis, and atopic dermatitis. It works by keeping the JAK1 enzyme, which plays a role in inflammatory cytokines, in check. The tablets come in 15 mg and 30 mg strengths and are extended-release.
Most people take 15 mg of this medication just once a day. Each bottle has 30 tablets. Upadacitinib stops the JAK1 enzyme, which helps create cytokines like IL-6, IL-17, IL-23, and IFN-γ.
By slowing down these cytokines, the drug reduces inflammation in RA, PsA, and AD, helping with symptoms like joint swelling and pain, as well as skin inflammation.
